Hi, I’m Katie Solberg!  I teach first grade ESL and am the ESL Department Lead. I have been at Whittier since 2016. Before that, I taught ESL at Wellstone and Roosevelt High Schools and in other districts.
 
I earned my initial teaching licensure from Hamline University and started teaching ESL in January 2007. Before my life as a teacher, I was an assistant editor for a Twin Cities weekly alternative newspaper. I have a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Minnesota.

I enjoy the outdoors and the indoors, whatever the season. In my spare time, you might find me knitting, drinking coffee, doing yoga, dog walking, listening to music, hiking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, traveling, reading, or relaxing with my cat on my lap.
 
I am excited to get to know you and your child throughout the year!
