African Dance: What is life without music? Use creative movement to explore music and dance from West Africa. Students will play instruments and learn traditional dances. Sign up for one day per week. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Tuesdays and Thursdays with Francis Kofi and Felicia Adeti.

Chess Club: Learn the rules and strategies of chess and other games, then just play. 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Tuesdays with Philip Schwartzberg.

Cooperative Games: Don’t know how to play any sports? This is the class for you! We will learn to be responsible and respectful teammates on the field and in the classroom all while we become more coordinated and healthy. 1st and 2nd grades. Wednesdays with Jenny Lock and Lucy Dinsmore.

Crafty Kids: We will have fun making a lot of different craft projects, including collages, puppet making, painting and making planters out of shoes! We’ll learn vocabulary specific to art and come home with ideas for more projects. 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. Mondays with Carrie Jacobson.

Food For Thought: Come and enjoy reading and cooking. We’ll prepare tasty dishes and read wonderful books and make the delicious connection between food and words. 2nd and 3rd grades on Wednesdays; 4th and 5th grades on Mondays. Both with Twana Bradley. ?

Green Thumbs: Want to learn to be a gardener? Then this is the class for you! We will learn how vegetables and flowers grow by doing small projects in the classroom then by digging and planting outside. All you need is a love of the Earth and a good attitude. 3rd grade. Mondays with Lucy Dinsmore and Sarah Kennon.

Hip HOp Art: Express Hip Hop through art. We will create our own image of the city we want to live in and listen to music and poetry for inspiration for growth and acceptance. We’ll learn about local artists working, living and creating change in the community . 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades on Wednesdays; 3rd, 4th and 5th grades on Mondays. Both with Pearl Madryga.

Hip HOp Dance: Dance, move and have fun learning Hip Hop moves from a professional dancer. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Mondays with Edna Stevens.

Homemade Books: Do you want to make a book — maybe a fiction story, an autobiography or a book of poems, or even a comic book? Join us as we write, draw pictures and make our own books. We’ll even read different genres of books as we go. 4th and 5th grades. Wednesdays with Sarah Kennon. ?

Latin Dance: Latin Dance is a wonderful way to expose youth to cultural diversity. This class will focus on the basic steps in salsa/mambo, cha cha, merengue and rhumba. Students will learn how to single and partner dance with emphasis on proper hand positions. This class is a fun way to enrich the kids’ knowledge through creative arts. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Wednesdays with Edna Stevens.

Math Explortation: The students will have access to online math assessment programs and will be able to create various graphs to show their progress. We will create mini portfolios of our math skills. 2nd and 3rd grades on Mondays and Tuesdays; 4th and 5th grades on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. All with Maria Singh. ?

Recipe for Reading: We will practice our reading by playing reading games and by cooking up delicious snacks. We’ll learn “good reader” strategies and have fun creating a variety of projects and keeping a reading journal. 2nd and 3rd grades. Tuesdays with Sandi Sevre. ?

Science LabRats: Do you want to know more about chemistry, biology and physics? If so, this class is for you! Each week we will conduct and observe cool science experiments. Students should be prepared to have fun and be amazed! 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. Thursdays with Marija Nicholson. ?

Soccer Fundamentals: We will learn the rules and the skills needed to play soccer. Soccer is simple, easy and anyone can do it. 4th and 5th grades. Mondays with Jim Crist and Samantha Scott.

Harlem Renaissance Arts: We will do a variety of arts including drawing, painting and collages as we learn about the artists of the Harlem Renaissance. 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades on Thursdays; 3rd, 4th and 5th grades on Tuesdays. Both with Michelle Spais.

Wild Things: Do you like to act? Create sets for plays? Join us as we create a play based on the book Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. Thursdays with Samantha Scott and Sarah Kennon.

WORD Wizards: Words are all around us! In this class, we will practice our reading and writing skills while looking at all the wonderful ways words are used in our world, such as in stories, signs, and notes and letters. We will have fun reading books, writing and using our imaginations. 1st and 2nd grades on Tuesdays; 3rd, 4th and 5th grades on Thursdays. Both with Amanda Hane. ?

Worldly Readers: Learn about world habitats and environments as we read, create projects and enjoy video travel. We’ll learn science and geography vocabulary along the way. 3rd and 4th grades. Wednesday with Sandra KM Sevre. ?

Yoga: We will learn Yoga, a great way to great health. Bring an open mind and open heart to this class. We will learn a series of movements and poses and practice meditation. Learn how to breathe in a different way. Come to this class to move your body, relax and have fun. 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Tuesdays with Samantha Scott and Lucy Dinsmore.
